The Royal Winter Fair is now complete with Thrulane James Rose named the Grand Champion of the Canadian National Holstein Show while the World Dairy Expo Champion, Harvue Roy Frosty, was named Reserve Champion. Although switched in the final line-up of the year, both have solidified their reputations as the two best cows in North America for 2009. Although this was big news, the big news of World Dairy Expo and especially the Royal, was Braedale Goldwyn.
Goldwyn was named Premier Sire at both shows quite convincingly. At the Royal Winter Fair, 22 Goldwyn daughters were in the top ten of their respective heifer classes, more than 25%! The next closest bull in number of top ten finishes in the heifer classes was Wilcoxview Jasper with nine. At World Dairy Expo, Goldwyn had 15 top ten finishes with Regancrest Dundee-ET a close second with 12.
