Har-Dee Registered Holsteins has been in existence since 1975. Prior to that time, Harvey and Don milked a herd of grade cows. We started a registered herd with the purchase of three registered Holstein heifers from Chester Unruh and Warren Winter. We continued to purchase cattle from Rock-Home and other producers, working toward our goal of an all registered herd. In 1986, we sold out with very mixed emotions. Brett and Brandon began their 4-H careers with the purchase of their first registered heifers, showing at county and state fairs and Ak-Sar-Ben. Their love of good cattle developed early, as Brett's first heifer was nominated for Jr. All-American as a 4-year-old. Brett's college years in central Kansas moved him closer to Rock-Home Holsteins. At this time, Kevin, Brett & Brandon developed a partnership and purchased their first heifers. Our friendship with the Winter Family grew, along with our appreciation for their knowledge of the Holstein business, our common interests, and love of quality cattle. We would like to thank the Winter Family for their support, their mentoring, and the opportunities provided us while working together. With the unexpected passing of Warren and the dispersal of Rock-Home Holsteins, we wish Kevin and Jean the very best as they plan and work for the future. Bonnie Mohr, rural Minnesota artist, states, "The influence of our cows has given us more joy in life than we ever dreamed possible." |
