Junior Champion

These heifers show balance, dairy quality and usefulness – they will make good cows down the road. They are all walking on a good set of feet and legs. It takes time and effort to maintain these heifers, especially the yearlings, as they have to carry a little extra weight to calve in the next few months. The heifers were presented well – the fitters and exhibitors need a big round of applause for maintaining these heifers 365 days a year.
They are a group of fine, fine heifers. Please receive them well.
The fall calf will be our Junior Champion today. She has beautiful balance and excels in dairy character throughout. She will make a fabulous yearling!
She has the slight advantage over our fall yearling, who will be our Reserve Junior Champion, in dairyness and cleanliness throughout. The fall yearling has a more preferable slope from hooks to pins and is more comfortable on her feet and legs than our winter yearling, who will be our Honorable Mention Junior Champion this afternoon.
