The Young family has lived in the Chehalis River Valley since the
first ancestors - from Maine & Massachusetts - set sail from New York
the same day President Lincoln was assassinated. They proceeded to
Panama, went overland and boarded another ship to set sail up the West
Coast. The ship caught fire seven times before reaching San Francisco,
where they boarded another ship that would take them to the mouth of the
Columbia River. From there they traveled north and settled in Chehalis.
The family has been farming here for 139 years.
Today we farm 710 acres, milk 245 Holsteins and have 300 Heifers. The herd averages 26,300M and 1017F. Claquato Farms has shown competitively since 1970. Our current classification herd totals are:
