of $1,105,600.00.
$50,000 was the winning bid on the high seller, Lot 2 – 1st
Choice
Female from MS Durchan Lady Allana-ET VG-89 EX-MS 2yrs. Five
ultrasounded female Jasper pregnancies from Allana are due to
arrive
September 2008. This choice is backed by 3 generations of All-Americans,

first
Kingsmill sale. They were the consignors of this Jasper choice,

$43,000 captured the much talked about Shottle daughter, Brandt-View

of 1-11 227
28,726 4.9 1405 3.1 900 with a projection of 51,987M 2586F 1627P.

dam is a VG-88 high producing Durham, then 4 more VG or EX dams.

all this with a CTPI of +2060 and the result is a very popular
contract
cow. Sons are already in AI, and she sold with more bull, female
and
embryo contracts to be fulfilled by the new owners. And they
are Troy
Yoder and Sam Nisly of Hartselle, AL. Fern was consigned by Brandt-View

$41,000 rounds out the top three high sellers – Lot 7,

International in ’01 when she was named Supreme Champion
of World Dairy
Expo. And this is not just a choice of a few Stormatics…the
new buyer
will have their choice of 9 heifers that are already on the ground
and
looking good! Kingsmill Farm II consigned the choice and Ashlyns
Altitude Syndicate carried the winning bid.
Managed by the sales team of Burton & Fellers, the sales
staff was a
who’s who of the Holstein auction ring and was anchored
by pedigree man,
Horace Backus, with auctioneer, Chris Hill. The cattle were expertly
displayed by Joel Phoenix and crew. Sale ring décor was
representative
of the beautiful flowers and landscaping of North Carolina with
a royal
touch. Sale attendees enjoyed the complimentary dinner and the
cool,
comfortable sale building while temperatures outside peaked at
over 100
degrees. Almost as hot as the prices inside!

A compilation of the best from Regancrest and other
breed-leading herds from across North America, the consignments
on the Regancrest Command Performance V Sale captured and held
everyone's attention on Saturday, May 3rd. At the end of the
day, 90 lots averaged $16,768.
The newly scored EX-92 94-MS Barbie was the first to circle the
ring as Dan Cnossen broke down the exciting and recently fresh
Durham daughter of Juror Brina EX-92 GMD. The first 10 lots of
the sale were all directly related to Barbie, and 4 others from
Barbie's full sisters. All together the impressive group
averaged $37,000! Selling for $80,000 was Lot 1 - Regancrest
Breya-ET VG-86 2yr. A Shottle daughter of Barbie, Breya sold
with 2 Semex contracts and 2 embryo contracts to
Japan &
Europe. She is now owned by Brad & Todd Groves, MO and
Regancrest. Her 8/07 Bolton daughter sold for $34,000 to Gary

the Productive Life Queen, Rud Zip 3E-94 GMD DOM, Z-Delight sold

is now owned by A.L.H. Genetics, Adolph Langhout, The
Netherlands. Z-Delight's 2/08 Baxter heifer sold for $17,500 to

for $67,000. An 11/1/07 Mac daughter of Regancrest S Chassity-ET,
Charm was the consignment of Scott Courtney & Uwe Riebensahm,

"When you buy from Regancrest its not the end of the story - its
just the beginning!" - John Hager. And with that said, we can
all plan on Command Performance VI to be held in 2010, featuring

| April 26 – The Rock-Home Dispersal
Sale |
The Rock-Home Dispersal Sale held
this past Saturday, April 26th in
Hillsboro, Kansas, will be remembered as the end of a chapter
but
definitely not the end of the Winter Family story in the dairy
business.
Three generations of dedicated cowmen developed this herd and
assembled
some of the breed’s best pedigrees ever to be offered in
a single herd
dispersal. The ending result was a solid average of $4,465.37
on 161 lots.
The first part of the sale was the majority of the milking herd,
followed by the fully prepared tied lots and then several bred
heifers
carrying embryos by many of the herd’s donor dams. Auctioneer
Gary Estes
said it best once they moved into the elite group in the middle – “We’ve
been playing AAA, not it’s time for the Major Leagues!” Of
those
approximately 45 lots, the average was just shy of $10,000.
Leading the way at $44,000 was Lot 11 - Calbrett Shottle Linda-ET.
One
of only two daughters of Petinesca Durham Ladina-ET (VG-89 Can)
in the
U.S., Linda is sired by Shottle and due to calve the end of August
to
Toystory. Her gr’dam is Savage-Leigh Bellwood Linda 2E-92
GMD DOM.
Selling alongside Shottle Linda was Plain-O Sept Storm Kylee-ET,
a 9/06
Sept Storm daughter of Broadmeade Durham Kelly (EX-94) – the
HM
All-American Sr. 3-Year-Old in ’04. Kylee is due to calve
9/1/08 with a
Shottle Linda x Pontiac embryo. The pair was purchased by Gary
Housner
and Ron Suhr, WI.
$30,000 was the winning bid from Don Esau, NE, for Lot 179. Carrousel
Stormatic Ada-ET is a Stormatic daughter of Ms Leducd Add E (EX-92),
next dam is Chief Adeen (2E-94 DOM). Ada is bred to Mac and due
the
beginning of August. Not too far away at $25,000 was Lot 182 – JK-RG
Ram
Marlene-Red-ET. A Rampage daughter from Rub Marlene-Red (EX-94),
the
Res. Grand Champion of the 2007 Grand Intl. R&W Show and
recent Res.
Grand Champion of the NY Intl. Spring R&W Show. She sold
with an embryo
package of 6 #1 Advent and 2 #2 Redliner embryos. Her new owner
is Mike
Eade, NY. Ten more lots were struck off for $10,000 or more and
cattle
were sold to 14 states.
Managed by Dallas Burton and Ed Fellers, the sale staff included
Auctioneer Gary Estes, Pedigree Reader Gayle Carson, Bobby Griggs,

24 – Holstein Québec
Spring Show |
It had been ten years since judge
Perry Phend, from Wisconsin, U.S.A.,
last attended the Holstein Québec Spring Show. He
said he was
pleasantly surprised by the quality of the livestock shown, particularly
the cows. Mr. Phend even added that those that placed last in
the
various classes could easily win top honours at many other shows.
It is precisely because of the superior quality of this show
that
breeders from Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritime provinces take
part in
it. And so a total of 180 Holstein animals were shown before
judge Phend
on Thursday, April 24, in Victoriaville. The previous day, Mr.
Réjean
Leclerc, from Saint-Isidore, Quebec, said he was honoured to
judge the
85 animals in the Red & White show. “I was impressed
by these animals,
particularly the 23 calves in the Senior Calf class,” declared
judge
Leclerc. He also appreciated the professionalism of the exhibitors
who
presented exceedingly well-fitted animals.
The grand-prize winners
A large crowd of spectators from Quebec and Canada and representatives
of 11 countries, who came specially for this event, looked on
as the
title of Red &White Junior Champion was awarded to Vidia
Petrus Mallie,
owned by Ferme Jolicap inc., Crackholm Holsteins, and Lookout
Holsteins.
The titles of Reserve Junior Champion and Junior Honourable Mention
went
to Sildajak Glacier Melody and Sildajak Redman Cash, respectively,
both
owned by Sildajak Holstein.
As for the Holsteins, judge Perry Phend was particularly drawn
to
Lesbertrand Dundee Lalime, owned by Georges Bertrand and Joël
Lepage,
awarding her the title of Junior Champion. For the titles of
Reserve
Junior Champion and Honourable Mention, he chose Rotaly Dundee
Madagascar, owned by Rock Hébert and Nathalie Dumais,
and Midlee Chapter
Marilla, shown by Brian Enright.
