The District 2 Springtacular was held
March 29th in West Salem, WI and
averaged $2850 on 79 whole lots. Topping the sale at $13,000 was
the
consignment of Randall Moret of Boscobel, WI, Mor-Yet Shottle Fergie-ET,
a 9/07 Shottle daughter from GBM Allen Fabulous-ET (VG-86). Fergie
carries a +1837 PTPI and is a potential 8th generation VG or EX.
She was
purchased by Philip Johnson & Scot DeVries of Holmen, WI.

Sale |
The Carolina Classic Sale was held March 29th
at the Dixie Classic
Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem, NC. Topping the event at $8,300
was
Donacin Durham Marme-ET, a VG-88, EX-MS Durham from Donacin Emory
Marnie
(EX-90). The second dam is Fountain-Farm Milan Marni (VG-87)
with over
100,000 lbs. lifetime preceded by six more dams of which five
are VG or
EX. Marme sold bred to BKB Affirmed and was consigned by Benjamin & Luke
Newberry, Lizella, GA. She was purchased by Troy Yoder. The second
high
seller was another Durham daughter, Patrick-Orchard Dur Beverly,
a 6/06
yearling bred to Final Cut. Beverly's dam is a VG-86 Lee and
then a
2E-91 Astre who was nominated Jr. All-American. Consigned by
Ronnie
Thomas of Warner Robins, GA, Beverly sold for $4,900 to Isaac
Horst. The
sale was sponsored by the North and South Carolina Holstein
Associations, with Darrell Wright, Joe Allen, Mike Hendrix, Billy
Holiday, Gayle Carson, Vance Proctor, David Lentz and Kelly Barbee
serving on the sale staff. Matt Lawrence auctioneered the sale
that
averaged $2,569 on 75 lots.

The 2008 Massachusetts Blue Ribbon
Calf Sale was held March 29 at the
Mallary Arena in West Springfield, MA, the home of the Eastern
States
Exposition. Fifty-seven lots averaged $1,607 across all breeds,
with
breed averages being: Ayrshire ($1,250); Brown Swiss ($1,833);
Guernsey
($2,367); Holstein ($1,554); Jersey ($1,554); Milking Shorthorn
($1,575); and Red & Whites ($1,750).

Spot All-Breed Calf Sale |
The 1st Annual Garden Spot All-Breed
Calf Sale, held March 29 in
conjunction with the Southeast PA Spring Fever Sale, averaged
$1,828 on
23 lots (14 Holsteins averaged . The top seller was a 9/07 Talent
x
GP-83, 2y Durham x 3E-94 Airliner consigned by Star-Rock Farms
and
purchased by Anthony Zimmerman of Lititz, PA, for $3,950. The
second
high seller at $3,600 was also a Talent daughter, born in December,
and
from two generations of EX. She was consigned by Galen Martin
and
purchased by Dale Zimmerman of East Earl, PA. Protein breed consignments
were the third and fourth high sellers of the day. Bringing $2,900
was
an August Turmoil from All-America Blessing PR Shirlan EX-93(3E).
She
was consigned by Kulp and Chard and was purchased by Excelsior
Farms,
Schnecksville, PA. Topping the Jersey consignments was a fancy
December
calf consigned by Melissa Huff. She was the purchase of Jared
Wetzel,
Manheim, PA for $2,700.

Fever Sale |
The Southeast PA Spring Fever Sale was
held March 29 and averaged
$3,127 on 85 lots. Topping the sale at $16,000 was Brandt-View
Shottle
Fig-ET consigned by Robert and Debbie Puskas of Somerset, NJ.
Fig, who
recently scored VG, is from an 88-point Durham who made over
55,000M.
She sold with contract interest and was the purchase of Daryl
Martin and
Elvin Reiff of Mt. Joy, PA. The second high seller at $13,200
was a May
Toystory daughter from Brandt-View Capri Connie who was recently
scored
EX-92 and is milking 200 lbs/day. Brandt-View Farms consigned
this
heifer from a heavily contracted family and she was purchased
by Gordon
Lamb, Oakfield, NY. The next high seller was a 63" fancy Laramie
daughter who is due in July for the fall shows. She was consigned
by Dan
Z Stoltzfus of Honey Brook, PA and was purchased by Alphie Stoltzfus,
Gap, PA, for $7,600. The sale was managed by Landis Marketing
and
coverage provided by Amy Savage.

Holstein Elite Sale |
The Buckeye Dairy club had
another great sale day with two different
sales. The Buckeye Classic Holstein Elite sale averaged
$3,090 on 45 lots. The high selling animal was lot 13, Nor-Bert
Jose Montana-ET and
consigned from Nor-Bert Farms, LTD of Bremen, Indiana. The winning
bid
was $9,000 and purchased by Oakfield Corners Dairy, Oakfield,
NY. The
second high selling animal was Pine-Tree Gold Tippy 1649, a consignment
of Matthew Steiner from Rittman, Ohio. Winning the bid at $8,750
was
Brian Ramsey of Louisville, Ohio. The Buckeye Dairy Club Jersey
sale
averaged $2,581 on 13 lots. The high selling animal was lot 7,
Shipley
Rocket Nora and consigned from Stacey Atherton of Newark, Ohio.
The
winning bid was $4,000 and purchased by David and Beth Ertl of
Edison,
Ohio. The second high selling animal was lot 2, a consignment
of Greta
Koebel of Three Oaks, Wisconsin. Tri-Koebel B Money-ET sold for
$3,700
and was purchased by Gene Starky of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

2008 Spring Expo Sale Sets Records

Electricity was in the air as Lot#1 Aldens Ramos Emerald (VG-87-EX-MS)
stepped foot into sale ring on March 28th , 2008 at the Spring
Expo
Sale in Columbus, OH. Style and balance along with a beautiful
udder
weren’t the only features this cow was carrying with her.
A great
pedigree consisted of her (EX-92-EX-95-MS) Rubens dam with over
35,000M
1,200F, (VG) Merrick; (GP-82) Raider; (VG) Mark; (VG-88) Mars
Tony;
(VG-86) Glendell; and an (EX-90) Astronaut. She had contracts
and
interest from four different AI companies and numerous embryo
inquiries
from four different countries as well. When it was all said and
done
Emerald sold for a price of $57,000 to Bellemac Jr., Raymond
and
Jeremiah Anthony from Meadville, PA. The contending bidder was
Rocky
Mountain Holsteins, Alberta, Canada. Emerald was consigned by
Alden
Farms, Danville, OH. This price sets a record for any solely
Ohio
Holstein sponsored sale, breaking the record price of $35,000
for Straight Pine Elevation Holly-ET in the 1981 Echoes of Elevation
Sale.
There was a tie for second high at the price of $11,500. Lot
#2 was
first choice female Zenith or Bolton out of Ri-Val-Re Shtle Desirae-ET
from Andrew, Bradley & Rebecca Conrad, Grafton, OH. Desirae
was present
for the show and filled the sale ring with her tremendous length
of body
and 63” inches of frame. In addition, she had an awesome
udder and
correct feet and legs. She had 11 generations of Dams that ranged
in
score from (VG-87) to (EX-94) with multiple DOMs and GMDs. Lot
#3 the
consignment of Whiteleather Holsteins, Minerva, OH was a long,
fancy and
extremely correct three month old Shottle calf from the highest
CTPI
+1725 Hi Metro daughter in the world. This calf is backed by
four
generations of Excellent Dams, VG and then (EX-91) all with records
over
1,000F. Both of these investments were purchased by Oakfield
Corners
Dairy-Gordon Lamb Oakfield, NY.
The sale averaged $5,285 on 40 live Lots. Fourteen lots sold
for $4,000
or more. Ten embryos totaled $5625 and 10 units of Durham brought
$1875.
Cattle went to Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, New York and Pennsylvania
in
addition to Ohio, and embryos are slated for England.
Auctioneering the sale was Jason Lamoreaux and pedigrees were
read by
Ted Renner. Fitting was done to perfection by Martin “Bud” Yoder,
Jim
Morlock Jr., Tony Netemeyer and Jack Brannock. The Buckeye Dairy
Club
furnished the night crew. Leadsmen were Neil and Drew Duncan,
Neil Deam
and Ben Mangun. Commodity Blenders provided the feed and Eileen
Lehman
handled the trucking. American Equipment Service, Inc. furnished
the
skid loader.

Rae-ET (Talent). The next 8 dams are EX. She sold for $5,900
to Carlyle
Westendorp, Nashville, MI, and was consigned by Lawson Bennett,
Mayville, MI.

| March 24 – Minnesota Spring Special |
The power of optimism and support
of solid breeding programs was more
than evident this past Saturday at the Minnesota Spring Special.
Held
at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds in Rochester, MN, this latest
Minnesota Holstein sale was a smashing success with a final average
of
$3,915.38 on 104 lots. Leading up to the sale numerous rumors
and
speculations regarding MN’s TB status were being voiced.
This makes the
success of this sale so refreshing. “Everyone’s
concerns have been put
to rest,” shared Sale Chairmen, Reid Stransky.
Capturing the top bid for the day at $11,400 was Lot #4, Mor-Yet
Shottle
Felicity-ET, the consignment of Randall Moret of Boscobel, WI.
Felicity
is a 9/07 Shottle daughter of GBM Allen Fabulous-ET VG-86 @ 2-10.
Next
dam is the increasingly popular GBM Durham BC Annabell VG-87
who has
sent sons to AI and exported embryos. Next 5 dams are Excellent.
Felicity was purchased by Phil Johnson and Phil DeVries of WI.
The
second high selling live lot was Sure-Bret Midnight Durham EX-91
@ 3-01.
An eye-catching end-of-the-row feature, Midnight is currently
milking
over 100 lbs/day. Her dam is a VG-85 Encore, followed by a VG-88
Leader
and then 2 more VG dams. The consignment of Scha-Way Holsteins
and
Kath-Kove of Little Falls, MN, Midnight is now owned by Lane
Johnson of
Kerkhoven, MN.
In addition to the consignments from MN, IA and WI, there was
also a
stellar group of over 20 individuals from some of the most notable
herds
in Manitoba, Canada. The next event that will feature Minnesota’s
best
will be the State Show on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June
21 in Sauk
Centre, MN. Judge for the day will be Justin Burdette of
Windy-Knoll-View in Mercersburg, PA.

The Eurogenes Online Heifer & Donor Sale 2008 goes down
in history as
the most successful Eurogenes Heifer Sale until now. All 24 sale
animals
were sold one day before this Online Sale actually ended for
an average
price of EUR 10.260!
The Sale topper, a first choice Baxter from Ralma Christmas Cookie
VG-89
was purchased for EUR 30.000 by the Germany breeder Mr. O. Rörden.
Ralma
Christmas Cookie is being regarded as one of the best daughters
of Oman
in the world out of one of the hottest families of this moment.
A Bolton
daughter from Cookie her Finley sister was also sold on the first
auction day for EUR 15.000.
Top prices were also paid for a very exclusive daughter of
Regancrest-HHF Mac from BKB Amanda EX-92. She made EUR 24.500.
A first
choice Advent grand daughter of Lavender Ruby Redrose EX-96 sold
for EUR
20.500 and a heavily contracted Red Carrier Shottle-daughter

The sale attracted much interest. From all over the world breeders
logged in to follow this top auction. The 24 lot-numbers were
sold for
amounts between EUR 3.600 and EUR 30.000 to buyers from 6 different
countries for an average price of EUR 10.260 per animal.

The Purple Ribbon Classic, an annual
club heifer sale hosted and
managed by the Wood Co. (WI) Holstein Breeders was held in Marshfield,
WI on Saturday, March 22nd. The large crowd saw 37 live animals
pass
through the ring for an average of $2533. Two maternal sisters
- Duckett
EK Pontiac Tanna, a 6/07 Pontiac, and Duckett EK Storm Taylor,
a 12/05
September Storm due in May – tied for sale top at $4,900
each. Consigned

VGMS milking 111 lbs. topped the sale at $50,000 purchased by
Stanton
Bros. Ltd. Ilderton, Ontario, Canada. Second high seller Ri-Val-Re

Caralie-ET VG VGMS milking 120 lbs., also bred by Ri-Val-Re and
consigned by Brent Dykema, Ryan Loew, and Tim VerHage, sold to

Lou from
Stormatic East, consigned by Budjon and Keitzman sold for $30,500

Springcroft Farm Complete Dispersal

A sale day standing room only crowd was the fitting accolade
to the
breeding program of the Kingsley Family of Columbia Crossroads,
PA.
Owners, Roger and Ronnie, along with their dad, Richard, held
a complete
dispersal on Thursday, March 20th.
The phenomenal sale average was $3269 on 127 full lots. Eight
lots hit
the $5000 mark and nineteen sold for over $4000. A tribute to
the
tremendous respect for this family, all cattle sold stayed in
either
Pennsylvania or New York.
A presale barn favorite topped the event at $9800 to the final
bid of
Duane and Ellen Andrews of Gillett, PA. Springcroft Rubens Maureen,
with
a super special mammary, was fresh in December with her second
calf. Her
December heifer, sired by Outside, sold for $3000 to Gavin and
Karen
Watson of Columbia Crossroads, PA. Maureen’s dam was a
VG-86 Springcroft
Integ Hanson (Integrity x Springcroft Skybuck Hei EX-91). With
immense
faith in their own breeding program, Hanson was widely used in
the
Kingsley herd and 22 Hanson daughters were sold in the sale.
Opening the sale with a ½ lot, a rare occurrence for the
Cattle Exchange
Sales organization, was the day old Aspen calf of the second
high seller
of the day. Springcroft Durham Sweetz VG-87 followed her potential
spring show calf on the auction block. Nathan Wesneski, Roaring
Branch,
PA, purchased Sweetz for $7400. Her dam was a VG-88 Linjet, followed
by
a Skybuck 2nd dam. Sweetz’s Aspen daughter was purchased
on the bid of
Robert Brown of Rome, PA for $3400.
3rd and 4th high sellers were both descendants of the “K” family
which
represented one of the most dominant cow families at Springcroft.
The
highest scoring Springcroft cow to cross the shavings, Springcroft
Durham Karlyn 2E-93, brought $7200 on the bid of Richard and
Colleen
Shaffer, Wyalusing, PA.
Springcroft Roylane Kristin, Karlyn’s short bred Roylane
Jordan
daughter, found a new home in Eastern New York. Albert and Judy
Buckbee,
Warwick, NY purchased this October 2006 heifer bred to Talent
for $6300.
A fancy 2nd calf Outside daughter sold for $5800 on the bid of
Gavin and
Karen Watson. Springcroft Outside Cara’s dam was a 2E-92
Marvelous
daughter with fat records to 1445F.
Linjet was a bull used extensively in the Springcroft herd with
much
success. 13 Linjets crossed the shavings including Lot #1, Springcroft
Linjet Alison EX. Due in September to the service of Talent,
Alison’s
dam was a VG-86 Regency daughter followed by an Astro Jet granddam.
Alison was purchased by Chatham Valley Farm, Middlebury Center,
PA for
$5200.
“I want to thank the two best partners any man could ask
for, my two
sons Roger and Ronnie.” Dad Richard spoke on behalf of
the Kingsley
family at the start of the sale. Springcroft Farm was established
in 1937.
The foundation of the current herd dates back to five calves
Richard purchased from Clarence Beech. The five developed into
an exception
group with 1EX, 3VG, and 1 high G+ Three of the five attained
the status
of Gold Medal Dam.
The Cattle Exchange, Dave and Merry Rama, managed the sale. Horace
Backus lent his impeccable skills to the pedigrees. Don Welk,
Ken Young,
and Tom Wright completed the sale staff. Fitting crew was headed
by
Brian Sparling and included Lester Hoskings, Jarrod Bramer, Matt
Sears,
Jeff VanPatten, and Jamie Crawford.

Sale |
It was a bright, sunny first day of
spring in Kansas for the 2008
Kansas State Sale, held March 20th. Eighty-four Holsteins
averaged
$5,253. High seller was a beautiful red cow at Lot 14, consigned
by
Kevin Winter and Robert Yeoman, Greenlea Redman Cara-Red-ET.
She sold
for $110,000 to Richard Green of Delaware. Her September heifer,
Lot 15,
sold to Kevin Winter of Hillsboro, KS for $10,600. The next top
seller
was Whitaker Stormy Rae-ET, a bred heifer consigned by Starmark,
that
sold to Alayna Kisst of California for $31,000. Next high was
a first
choice female consigned by Troy Yoder of Georgia - Regancrest
Dundee-ET
X Silverridge Leduc Renee - that sold for $12,700 to John Cunningham
of
California. Volume buyers for the day were Calvin and Adam Voskamp
of
Mt. Vernon, MO, who purchased a total of 10 head.

Invitational Sale |
The New England Spring Invitational
Sale on March 19th in Derby, VT,
posted an average of $5,166 on 96 lots. The International Associates
Cy Nelson offered Cowtown Durham Laughter-ET as lot 1 and when
the
hammer fell she was struck off to Gerald Todd Sr., Gerald Todd
Jr., Jim
and Jeff Butler, of TN and IL for $50,000. She is a 9/06 Durham
daughter
of Elleeta Skybuck Lucy (2E-95) Lucy’s accolades for 2007
included
International Holstein Show Grand Champion, All-American Aged
Cow and
People’s Choice Cow. Lucy’s 5 of 6 nearest dams are
VG or EX.
The 2nd highest price of $24,000 was paid by Gerald Todd Sr.,

sold with
a package of 5 Jasper embryos. She is out of Twin-Wind-TC Broker

Calf Sale |
The Carroll County Calf Sale was
held March 19th in Westminster and
averaged $2468.50 on 25 calves and one choice. High seller of
the night
was a first choice Goldwyn or Jasper from Dool Leigh Outside
Pieper
(EX-92) selling for $6,500. The choice was consigned by the Mike
Doody
family in Union Bridge, MD and purchased by Vision Genetics.
The highest
selling live animal was Lot 3, a September Fortune from the EX-95
Ellymae consigned by My Ladys Manor Farm. She was purchased by
Byron
Stambaugh for $4900. A June fortune out of a VG Allen granddaughter
of
Ashlyn commanded a price of $4,800 consigned by Scott Sollenberger
of
Mercersburg and Tom Mercuro of Hagerstown and purchased by the
Arbaugh
family of Uniontown. The sale committee would like to thank everyone

2008 Ohio Spring Sale

High selling cow and calf tied for top bid of $4300 at the
2008 Spring Sale in Wooster, OH on March15, 2008. The high
cow, Quality-Quest Bond Pumpkin (GP-84-VG-MS), was a ringing
wet 2nd lactation Juror Bond daughter that had an awesome udder
to go along with her extreme angularity. Her first lactation
she produced over 27,000M and 1300 of fat. She was consigned
by Doug Dye, Beloit, OH. High calf was What-If Bolton Topaz-ET
a September ’07 Bolton daughter from Ricecrest Terry
Tasha-ET (VG-87-GMD-DOM). Next 7 Dams are all VG or EX many
of which are DOM or GMD. She was consigned by Steven Schlabach,
Dalton, OH. Both consignments were purchased by Harpster Enterprises,
Jeromesville,OH.
A fancy second calf Durham daughter from Firman Miller was
third high for $4000 to Ack-Lee Holsteins, East Liberty, OH.
Fourth high was a big framed Mr. Sam Springer from Acker Dairy
Farms LTD., Sterling, OH. Bert De Bruijn was the buyer.
The sale averaged $2682 on 46 live Lots of cows, bred heifers
and show aged calves.
The cattle were prepared to perfection by Orion (Jason Robinson
and Erica Davis), Jim Morlock Jr., Martin “Bud” Yoder,
and Ben Mangun. Night crew was District 7 Holstein Board. Sale
ring was prepared by Julie Renner.
Leadsmen were Drew Duncan and Jason Miley. Auctioneering was
done by Steve Andrews and pedigrees by Ted Renner.

Show Opportunity Sale |
The 22nd edition of the Waupaca/Waushara
Show Opportunity Sale held at
the fairgrounds in Weyauwega on March 15 netted all-time record
highs
for sale gross and sale average. Forty-five lots grossed $125,200
and
averaged $2,782 with two additional embryo lots selling for $3,750
for a
final sale gross $128,950.
The high-selling animal at $9,400 was a 9/08 Goldwyn Choice from
Above-Par Durham Paoli (VG-88). Paoli's maternal sister is the
well-known Above-Par Finley Patty, the Reserve Int. Champion
at the
Illinois Championship Show in 2006. Consignment by Tom Kestell,
Waldo,
the choice was purchased by Tony and Brenda Gudex, Brownsville.
LaVerne Lupak, Custer, offered $6,ooo for the second-high seller,
a 9/07
Lou daughter out of Ralma Duce CF Chip-ET, with sons contracted
to AI
and internationally as well as embryos to Germany. She was consigned
by
R-Z Holsteins, Stevens Point.
Andy Brantmeier of Sherwood consigned the third-high seller,
a 9/09
Goldwyn daughter whose second dam is Hilrose Durham Allie (EX-92)
with
108,350 pounds lifetime milk. She was purchased by Brandon Smith,
Pulaski, for $5,200.
Unique to the Waupaca-Waushara Holstein Sale, four deserving
youths received calf project grants to assist in purchasing an
animal. The
grants are supported by generous agribusinesses throughout the
area and
the breeders throughout the two counties along with proceeds
from the
sale committee. In addition, this year Spiegelberg Implement,
Manawa,
sponsored its own calf project grant. Grant recipients were Amy
Blake,
Pine River, Peter Jarvis, Wautoma, Jacob Riemer, Clintonville
and Tyler
Sawall, Clintonville. In addition, a semen sale preceding the
sale
netted over $3,900 with proceeds benefiting the Waupaca-Waushara
Junior
Holstein Association.
The sale chairman was Tom Anderson with Jim Hoskens on pedigrees.
Darrell Worden, auctioneer, worked with sales personnel Lynn
Harbaugh,
Kevin Jorgensen, Jay Jauquet and Chad Ryan. The barn crew was
led by
Krista Leudtke with the junior members also leading the animals.
Tony
Brey, Ryan Krohlow and Cody Schultz handled the fitting. A host
of other
county members fulfilled all the other responsibilities to manage
their
own sale.

Tag Sale |
The Savage Family of Savage-Leigh hosted
a Tag Sale on March 14-15th
at the farm in Knoxville, MD. Sale manager Chip Savage reports
great
results from the outstanding line-up they had to offer. A
total of 16
animals were sold in the Tag Sale for a gross of $116,100 and
an average
of $7,256.25. Cattle were sold to seven different states.

The March 14th Greenlea V Sale resulted
in an unofficial average of
$7,998. The high seller of the night at $46,000 was Pencroft-BB
Helen-ET
*TR, a donor dam who sold open and ready to flush. Sired by Comestar
Lheros, Helen is out of Eastriver RM Hanzel-ET (EX-92) and then
Cousinvale Helen (EX, CAN). Helen herself is scored VG-88, EX-MS,
2y and
was the Res. All-American Jr. 2-Year-Old in 2007. The second
high seller
of the sale at $36,200 was Wea-Land SS Mia-Red, another donor
dam is
sold bred to Kite. Mia was the HHM All-American R&W Winter
Yearling in
2007 and is a Sept Storm daughter of Creek-Knoll Mae Distrig-Red
(EX-94), the All-American R&W 4-Year-Old from 2007. Mia was
purchased by

the highest
selling animal for $26,000 at the Maryland Holstein Convention
Sale held
Saturday, March 8th at the Washington County Agriculture Center.
The
Champion daughter, out of EX94, Wilsondale Emory Tenille-ET is
milking
115 pounds of as of a December test. Pineland Farms, Inc. and
Tia
Syndicate of New Gloucester, Maine consigned the lot with five
Excellent
dams backing her pedigree. Pineland Farms, Inc. purchased her
back,
buying out the syndicate.
Glen-Toctin Farm of Jefferson consigned the second highest seller,
Glen-Toctin Ramos Heidi-ET, born in May and sold with bull contracts
to
Semex and Select Sires. Dr. Barry and Diane England of Williamsburg,
Pa.
purchased the heifer for $12,200. Her dam, EX91, Deer-Slope Durham
Hillary has three A.I. contracts and has a record boasting 3-04

4.0 1265F 3.2 1012P after 365 days. The consignment heifer is
also a
maternal sister to the 2007 All-Maryland Reserve Junior Spring
Calf.
Carroll Seiler of Union Bridge consigned the $8000 lot, Twin-Manor
Powder Snow-ET. Her dam, VG85, DeBoar Mr Sam Snow Puff-ET is
the
number-one PTPI Mr. Sam of the breed. Bud Stambaugh and Tanya
Miller of
Westminster purchased the heifer.
Randy and Robin Christman of Poolesville invested $7300 in a
June Dundee
heifer out of VG88, EXMS, Ehrhardt Champion Lexus-ET consigned
by Chip
Savage of Savage-Leigh Farms in Knoxville. Her dam is the mother
of

Michael, Matt and Mark Iager of Fulton purchased a just fresh

Jonathan Lamb of Oakfield, N.Y. purchased a first choice female

Doug and Joan Siedel of Pintail Point Farm, Queenstown purchased

Edition Sale |
The Branson Limited Edition Sale averaged
$16,447 on Saturday, March
8th. Within seven days of each other, the Holstein industry witnessed
two of the biggest sales of the year, if not in history; Butlerview’s
Parade of Perfection and Branson Limited Edition Sale combined
to add
spark to the already hot Holstein market. At the luxury resort
Big Cedar
Lodge located just south of Branson, Missouri, 48 lots averaged
$16,448
with a gross of $789,500.00, making it the highest averaging
Branson
sale in history.
Holstein enthusiast, Robert Goldmann took home the two top selling
lots
in the sale. The top seller at $81,000 was lot 5A, a January
Baxter calf
out of Ralma Goldwin Carmel consigned by Dr Jeff Rugg, R-Z Holsteins
of
Wisconsin. Robert Goldmann also picked up lot 2 selling two months
fresh, Ralma Shottle Dragonfly-ET for $60,000, consigned by Harvey
Schoon of Minnesota.

28, as 69 live lots set a $6,326 average. Ed Crossland, Mt. Savage,
MD,
paid $27,500 to claim Savage-Leigh Lou Lenia-ET from Christopher
Savage,
Knoxville, MD. This Jenny-Lou Marshall P149-ET daughter is a 3/07
issue
out of Savage-Leigh Leola-ET (VG-88). The 2nd dam is the well known
Savage-Leigh Licorice-ET (EX-92 DOM), the HHM All-American
5-Year-Old in
2006. The youngster sold with embryo contracts. Penn-Gate’s
Finesse
family took the spotlight for $26,000 (and good for 2nd high of
the
sale), on a bid from Corey Wolff, Millville, PA, on a fancy milking
Shottle daughter, aptly named Vision-Gen Shottle Fancy-ET. Fresh
on
1/21/08, her dam is a VG Durham with numerous bulls in AI and exported

of Perfection Sale in

WI, was just that, a moment in history. Thought to be the highest
grossing sale in history at approximately $2.3 million, the day
was
marked by a standing room only crowd, exceptional hospitality
and a
stellar sale lineup. Topping the event was the 12/07 Talent calf
of KHW
Regiment Apple-Red-ET, selling for $190,000 to Triple Crown Genetics,
Kingsmill Farm and Gene Iager.

| February 11-14 – Showcase Sale
of Virginia Tech |
Showcase Sale of Virginia Tech
It was a lovely Valentine’s Day in Roanoke, Virginia for
the 2008
Showcase Sale of Virginia Tech. The Dairy Club of Virginia Tech
hosted
the Showcase Sale at the hotel Roanoke again this year in conjunction
with the 101st Virginia State Dairyman’s Association Convention.
The
sale featured high quality Brown Swiss, Holstein and Jersey consignments
from deep pedigrees. The sale began with online bidding on February
11th
and commenced on February 14th with online software provided
by Alta.
The online bidding marked the beginning prices for the evening’s
live
bid-off that began at 7pm on Valentine’s Day.
The selection committee consisting of Aaron Horst; Chair, Jacob
Pieper,
Ryan Haines, Danny Hardesty, Malorie Rhoderick, Michael Bosley,
Katie
Albaugh, Derek Heizer, Parker Welch, Laurel Moore, Brittany Thompson
and
Jessica Stiles began in the fall of 2007 seeking consignments
from top
notch dairy herds. The catalog, advertising, and website committees
immediately began compiling pedigrees and marketing consignments.
Rachel
Higginbotham and Mary Dickenson worked closely with online bidding
to
monitor the trust and accuracy of prospective purchasers. The
sale wrapped up with an event organized by Hannah Smith, Chair
featuring refreshments and a slide show.
Denny Remsberg, fellow Virginia Tech alumni served as auctioneer
and
Gayle Carson from JMS read pedigrees. Sara Barlass from JMS,
alumni and
sale staff took bids from online, phone and live bidders.
New to the sale this year was eight semen lots donated by Accelerated
Genetics, ABS, Alta, Genex, and Semex. The lots totaled $1900
to benefit
the Virginia Tech Dairy Judging Teams.
The sale staff, especially the chair, Sonja Galley was extremely
pleased
to announce the final numbers which proved that the sale was
a huge
success. The sale averaged $2,361.51 on 42 lots including all
live, choice and embryo lots. The Holstein lots averaged $3,358.82,
the Jersey
lots averaged $2,230.56 and the Brown Swiss lots averaged $1,887.50,
all
averages include live and choice lots.
The top selling lot was a second choice Goldwyn from Gloryland
Lisa
Rae-ET EX-90 EX-93 MS backed by seven generations excellent consigned
by
Roy Mitchell of Jy-Ro Holsteins from Elkin, NC and purchased
by Jeff
King of Schuylerville, NY for $7500. The second high selling
lot sold
for $6300 consigned by Dana Erway of Coudersport, PA and was
the first
choice female of three September 2007 heifers sired by Redliner
out of
Fradon Lee Mercey-ET EX-91 by four generations very good or excellent
purchased by Kingsmill Farm, LLC of Durham, NC.

Sept. Storm from the Ravens. Consigned by Andy Merry of Arkport,
the
choice sold for $16,500 to Long-Brook Farm, the Sherwood family,

Meshoppen, PA. Other high selling prices included $11,600 for
a first
choice by mutually agreeable sire from Coyne-Farms Bret Daffers-ET

The 26th Annual Holiday ET Extravaganza on January 11th sailed
to a
$343,575 gross on 43 lots. Lee Whitaker, Harlem, GA, consigned
a choice
of Jaspers or Stormatics due in September to claim the highest
price of
this event at $21,000. Roy Mitchell placed the bid on this opportunity
to own a daughter out of La-Foster Astro Adona-ET (VG-88, 2y).
With a ME
in 305 days of 27,213 3.0 800 3.0 800 and the title of Grand
Champion at
both the Georgia National Fair and Georgia Holstein Show, Adona-ET
is
out of the highly regarded and successful MD-Delight Durham Atlee-ET
(EX-92 DOM). Two other consignments were struck of for $20,000.
Jerland
Kite Nissa-Re (VG-87), a granddaughter of Stelbro Renita Ranger-Red
(2E-94) was consigned by Larry Jerome and purchased by Reid Stransky,
Owatonna, MN, on a bid from agent Dallas Burton. The other consignment
that reached $20,000 was the 1st choice of Den-K Marshal LL Laurin
out
of Scientific Gold Dish Rae-ET*RC. Gold Dish is a Goldwyn daughter
