Maryland Holstein Convention Sale

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – EX91, Wilson-Dale Champion Tia-ET was the highest selling animal for $26,000 at the Maryland Holstein Convention Sale held Saturday, March 8th at the Washington County Agriculture Center. The Champion daughter, out of EX94, Wilsondale Emory Tenille-ET is milking 115 pounds of as of a December test. Pineland Farms, Inc. and Tia Syndicate of New Gloucester, Maine consigned the lot with five Excellent dams backing her pedigree. Pineland Farms, Inc. purchased her back, buying out the syndicate.
    Glen-Toctin Farm of Jefferson consigned the second highest seller, Glen-Toctin Ramos Heidi-ET, born in May and sold with bull contracts to Semex and Select Sires. Dr. Barry and Diane England of Williamsburg, Pa. purchased the heifer for $12,200. Her dam, EX91, Deer-Slope Durham Hillary has three A.I. contracts and has a record boasting 3-04 31,540M 4.0 1265F 3.2 1012P after 365 days. The consignment heifer is also a maternal sister to the 2007 All-Maryland Reserve Junior Spring Calf.
Carroll Seiler of Union Bridge consigned the $8000 lot, Twin-Manor Powder Snow-ET. Her dam, VG85, DeBoar Mr Sam Snow Puff-ET is the number-one PTPI Mr. Sam of the breed. Bud Stambaugh and Tanya Miller of Westminster purchased the heifer.
Randy and Robin Christman of Poolesville invested $7300 in a June Dundee heifer out of VG88, EXMS, Ehrhardt Champion Lexus-ET consigned by Chip Savage of Savage-Leigh Farms in Knoxville. Her dam is the mother of Savage-Leigh Dundee Alexee-ET, 2007 All-American Spring Calf, 2007 All-Illinois Spring Calf and boasts a long list of show records. The second dam, EX95, Idee Lustre-ET has a lifetime record of 111,379M 4.6 5141F 3.4 3739P after 1118 days and also has a long list of show winnings.
    Michael, Matt and Mark Iager of Fulton purchased a just fresh Red-carrier, JB-JV S Storm Delight-ET for $7100. The September Storm daughter is milking around 100 pounds of milk and is out of VG88, Hilltop-Hanover-I B Daff-ET. The second dam, EX91 3E, Brigeen Hanover Debra boasts a lifetime record of 197,175M 4.1 8118F 3.0 5984P after 3124 days. Luke Coblentz of Flemingsburg, Ky. consigned the September born cow.
    Jonathan Lamb of Oakfield, N.Y. purchased a first choice female born this January sired by Pontiac for $6100. The choice, out of VG87, Mar-Bil Iron Gretel-ET was consigned by Allen and Carolee McClure of Hobart, N.Y.
    Doug and Joan Siedel of Pintail Point Farm, Queenstown purchased a first choice female out of eight transfers due in September, sired by Fradon Jet-Red-ET. The choice is out of the EX94, Derrwyn Miss Special-Red family with the dam being EX91, Derrwyn Rubens Myos-Red-ET. The second dam is EX92, Derrwyn MG Mystery-Red. Golden Oaks Farms of Wauconda, Ill. consigned the choice.
    The sale averaged $4227 out of 69-head and 7 choice lots and was co-managed by MD-Hillbrook, Chris Hill of Thurmont and the Maryland Holstein Association.

  

The highest selling lot of the Maryland Holstein Convention Sale was EX91, Wilson-Dale Champion Tia-ET bringing $26,000, purchased by Pineland Farms, Inc. of New Gloucester, Maine. The Champion daughter out of EX-94, Wilsondale Emory Tenille-ET was consigned by Pineland Farms, Inc. and Tia Syndicate. Mendelssohn Terrace Farm, Inc. of Damascus donated 100-percent profits of a December calf, Mendelssohn Ram Mamie to the Maryland Dairy Judging Fund. Matt Hoff, Coldsprings Farms of New Windsor purchased the calf for $3050.
